An 80 Year Legacy Italian Specialty Grocery Brand Evolves
Di Bruno Bros. newest location in Wayne is an evolution and “best of” version of their specialty grocery stores with even more energy and enthusiasm for all things edible.
On their 80th year in business they’ve build this 8,000 square-foot Italian culinary marketplace featuring delicious and eye-catching displays and experiential food shopping experiences.
Inspired by their Italian Market legacy, and old-world European food markets, our space offers countless opportunities for guests to taste and sip their way through the immersive experience.
World-Class Design on The Main Line
Di Bruno Bros. and the partners who designed this space aimed for hospitality meets world-class shopping. Elegant yet approachable details with the customer service and specialty ingredients that Di Bruno Bros. has become known for – now combined with an element of restaurant-quality spaces that one might not expect. The center crown jewel opens with Bar Alimentari – a smaller version of our restaurant concept on the second floor of their Center City’s Rittenhouse Square location. This 20-foot curved centerpiece offers curated small plates of cheese and charcuterie, antipasto and wine as well as a wrought iron crown that encompasses custom signage, mirrors to elongate the space and a visual grounding element for the store.
Our role was to help strategize the entire store position – layout, how it stacked against competitors, and down to the details of colors and materiality. We worked with the all-star team assembled by Di Bruno Bros. – Eimer Architects, Blue Edge Signage and our team for the design elements. Signage was the most important part of our role, to help the customer experience be maximized by easy use.
Elevated Homegrown Specialty Food Market
As you walk the store you’ll find their exclusively prepared foods and take-away concepts like Arrosto’s roasted meats, Cucina pizza oven and chefs counter. The shop ends with the bakery, cafe and Bottle Shop wine and beer selection. The idea is that you can easily shop there for quick gifts or meet a friend for a drink. Since hospitality is all about an experience and entertainment now, you will also hear Di Bruno Bros. employees conversing with visitors like you’re walking along the streets of an Italian Village.
Not Just a Market, A Destination
There has never been a more important time for food brands to make their next chapter go further than the 4 walls of a restaurant or in this case, market. Di Bruno Bros. is quickly becoming the go-to version of destination meets entertainment for all food shoppers. We are honored to help serve their legacy and growth and will proudly cheerlead their next century!
Our role with Di Bruno Bros. newest food market location was: strategy, branding, design, interior support, signage and marketing.
We’d like to credit the Cohere team, Alex Cahanap + Jackie Botto + Gab Bonghi for photography, Dylan Garner for signage support and the Eimer team.
